Note: I suggest you approach the problem "top-down": macro->industry->company. Given the 1,000 word constraint, you need to be highly selective. Again, a good PESTLE is not about everything in P, E, S, T, L, E, but rather highlights one or two really important factors that may "hit" Phalanx or the industry in the future. The same for Five Forces. Focus on forces that diminish industry returns. As this assignment discusses only the "problem" (challenge) part of the whole course, the paper should result in providing the reader an understanding of the key drivers of sustainable profits that the CEO has to "get right". You could develop those from an issue tree and show that they are consistent with the larger, macro and industry factors. You may want to add some preliminary data (e.g., what is the market size going forward, how is competition evolving, what are the projected cost of programmers, etc.) Additional Note: Minh's responses (CEO) -1/ How would you describe the work culture inside the company? Company work culture is: agile, flexible however precise . We do have company policies just like other companies like: behaviors, code of conduct, working time ect ... however since Pandemic broke out , we mostly work from home so employees as well as manager are committed to their planned timelines, tasks and responsibilities. There is nothing strict or stressful between employees and the management team as long as they meet the schedule and finish the task. Employee feel free to speak their mind and contribute to the project. -2/ How does different department communicate with each other? Does the Sales team have a say in the decisions of Lead UX/UI, for example? For cross departments we have a weekly meeting called WIP (Work in progress) every monday , in this meeting each team leader and department share their working schedule, working project, goal, success as well as difficulty their are facing and may ask for support from other department. For a specific project , IT team & Business Development Team & UX/UI team has their own meeting to update for that project and communicate . After every meeting there will be a meeting recap to list out all of task and meeting idea/ contents. We use an app called Trello, which can assign specific task to a team or a person, they also can comment during working process. Each project also has an group chat to communicate quickly, so there is an align and no misunderstanding between department -3/ What is the company's motto/slogan? It is: "Our Technologies Your Foundation" -4/ What is the hiring requirement to be in the Sales team? Is there any existing rewards or bonuses system for consultancies? There is an detail requirements for recruitment of the sale person however is can be sum up in : sales experiences including skills and techniques, IT background , familiar with technologies and market, understand about client's demand and ideas. Sales team does have 2% commission for every contract that they get -5/ Cost -Labour -Rent -Office expense: electric, water, offices supply, telephone -Services: Accounting software (EG: Misa) , hosting / cloud services: for IT team to work and many other IT Services. Please note that if we want to code we have to purchase software and this is also costly -Insurances , travel and meal (For BD team meeting client) -Maintaining and repair: computer, chair ,table, printer, ect.. -6/ What are the current physical and technological resources Phalanx has? We don't own any powerful machine which is: physical resources. However we do work with and using services (Sever, cloud hosting) from large and famous companies like Amazon Web services. This company rent a server machine to us Technology is a large term, we don't have(own) the technologies for example blockchain because we are not the creator.However we do have ability to develop a crypto app using block chain tech if client requests. Because the question is too general so I can't give a specific answer ( like a list). Just note that if customer request us to code an app with the newest coding language (Golang, Scala) we will accept and learn that coding language during works -7/ Are marketing and maintaining service free? If not, does Phalanx have any free offers and special customer service? Marketing and maintaining services is not free. Warranty is free which means if the app has problems we go to check and it because of the coding will be free of charge. For large contracts the UX/UI design can be free of charge (Eg: Contract > 50.000USD), We also offer a discount 5%-10% if customer purchases marketing and maintaining services. Assignment Name: 1: Diagnosing the causes of the organisational challenge (individual) Length: 1,000 words +/- 10% (not including references, executive summary, title page, appendix) Purpose of the assignment This assignment is designed to get you to identify and analyse the contextual elements that contribute to the challenge that the partner organisation faces. You are to present your work in a business report format. This involves undertaking and external and internal analysis of the organisation and making predictions about the future. Requirements for the assignment

  • Examine the information provided by the partner organisation and undertake your own research to find more relevant information and data. Have you got all the data you need? What other data would be helpful?

  • Analyse the information you have collected using appropriate management tools and theories

    • External organisational analysis

    • Internal organisational analysis


  • Explain how the nature of the challenge is a result of the combination of external and internal factors that you have discovered through your research and subsequently re-define the management challenge as a problem that can be solved through the combination of management theory and practice.

  • Write a business report describing the nature of the challenge through the particular management lens (e.g., business development? Corporate strategy? Ethics? Stakeholders?) that you are viewing the problem.
